Dear Community,
In my other role as Principal Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course at the University of Hertfordshire, I am a primary research supervisor for people carrying out their Doctoral thesis. I am always happy to supervise and examine research that is in the area of lived/ing experience of mental health difficulties in the mental health professions. Because this is my passion here at in2gr8, and allied work, I am taking a moment of your time to advertise two pieces of research in the very early days - exact titles to be decided - which we'd like to invite your involvement in at the University of Hertfordshire: Is anyone out there interested in joining our team as a Supervisor, or Consultant on the projects? Once ethics is cleared we will go out to invite participants.
Brief descriptions of the research below are from the trainees themselves:
Hello, my name is Hillary, and I am a second-year trainee clinical psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire. For my Major Research Project (MRP), I am exploring the experiences of Black trainee clinical psychologists who have either received or may need mental health support within their employing trusts.
I am currently in the early stages of this research and am seeking a second supervisor. There is flexibility regarding the level of involvement for the second supervisor, so if this topic interests you, I would love to hear from you.
Please feel free to contact me at h.agyei-asare@herts.ac.uk.
I am a second year trainee clinical psychologist at Hertfordshire University looking to carry out research on the workplace experience of mental health staff who are diagnosed with a 'personality disorder'. I will be carrying out this out as my Major Research Project (thesis) and I am reaching out to anyone who may be interested in being a second supervisor. The duties of the second supervisor are flexible - if you are interested in hearing more please contact me via ei23aat@herts.ac.uk
Best wishes
Ellie
The second supervisor role can fit according to your capacity, but classically involves supporting access to participants (perhaps you work in a staff support setting, or offer staff reflective practice) and some draft chapter reading. The consultant role is to bring forward your lived experience to advise how this research could best be run, you'll be joining me in either capacity. Once we have ethics approved, we will invite our community again if they identify with the research and would like to be a participant in it.
Do get in touch with Ellie and Hillary directly and let them know you saw this post. They can tell you more.
Best wishes from this Druidess. We have now gathered a harvest of gifts after the autumnal equinox, what are you grateful for? We let go of what no longer serves us, just as the trees lose their leaves, and turn further inwards during this fertile beginning of the dark half of the year, to gently seed our creations for Spring. Rest more, digest more. That is the theme of Autumn to Winter.
